This ASHI Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) program is a scenario (case-based) continuing education training designed to give healthcare providers knowledge of handling cardiopulmonary and resuscitation emergencies in children.
The program is based on the official text of the program, PALS Study Guide, 4th Edition by Barbara J Aehlert RN BSPA, and it provides comprehensive knowledge to enhance and refine hands-on skill and knowledge of the delegates related to emergency cardiovascular care.
The training confirms to the 2015 AHA Guidelines Update for CPR and ECC.
Pre-Requisites:
- Perform high-quality pediatric basic life support (PBLS)
- Read and interpret basic electrocardiograms (ECG)
- Understand basic resuscitation pharmacology, prepare and administer essential medications
Required for Successful Completion:
Written Evaluation:
- Required
Performance Evaluation:
Successfully complete five performance evaluations, three PBLS and two PALS:
- High-quality infant BLS
- High-quality child BLS
- Bag mask ventilation
- Respiratory or shock case management
- Cardiac case management
CAPCE:
- Continuing educations (CE) hours for EMS professionals are available for ASHI PALS from Health & Safety Institute (HSI), a CAPCE accredited organization.
