Process equipment systems like rotating equipment (i.e. pumps, compressors, turbines) and static equipment (i.e. columns, vessels, exchangers) as well as all instrumentations and controls used for safe and smooth plant operation and used in different areas of modern technique. Users of such equipment not only require a safe and reliable operation together with good efficiency and high availability, but also, good design and optimum material selection in early phases of project.

During plant life cycle, there will be a continuous need to develop engineering document, process modification, purchasing of materials ...etc., all of those jobs are requiring a great deal of understanding of the Codes and Standards which are the actual safeguard against plant deviations or fatal mistakes.

The purpose of this course is to give trainees the basic information about the equipment operating parameters, related International Codes and Standards and the importance of their correct Design and compliance with those related Codes and Standards,

The course also is designed to give a wide angle vision needed to all disciplines involved in Process Engineering and equipment detailed engineering.

Examples of Data Sheet review of the equipment shall be covered in the course.

Team workshops will also be formed to discuss and review the design criteria and control of major process rotating and static equipment, as well as material selection and needed control and safeguard.

In general, the course materials will cover the following subjects:

  • Detailed engineering related Codes and Standards
  • Process mechanical equipment (Static - Rotating)
  • Process instrumentations and control
  • International materials standards
  • Orifice calculations and installation and data sheet
  • Manual and control valves selection and data sheets review
  • Controlling vessels, tanks and rotating equipment
  • Process safety integrity standards
  • Plant equipment data sheets review

Outline

By the end of this course, participants will have sufficient knowledge on:

  • Projects, detailed engineering and execution activities
  • Ensure basic familiarity with the Engineering Codes and Standards applications in Oil and Gas business
  • P&ID and document detailed engineering development
  • Engineering design knowledge on process static / rotating equipment and instrumentation
  • How to purchase equipment and/or review its data sheet
  • Share in a workshop and use of related Standards /Codes

Speaker/s

Mr. Osman, B.Sc., has more than 30 years of hands-on experience in onshore/offshore oil / gas projectengineering and management as well as refineries and petrochemicals industry, being deeply involved in instrumentation and control systems related to upstream / downstream processing facilities, from feed engineering, conceptual design, basic/detailed engineering construction supervision, commissioning and startup and handover to operation in compliance with company and international standards constraints maintaining top quality/HSE policy and objectives. Also, has sound experience in training and assessment, both classroom and OJT, including material preparation, lecturing, field exposure and workshop training, determining/filling trainee learning gaps. His experience also includes knowledge and hands on competency assessment management system CAMS, and developing all related documents as IDP, job profile, trainee/candidate competency map, as well as competency assurance and developing competency STD. He has held various positions in various locations such as: technical instrument instructor (ECU “ENI Italy Corporate University”) (Zfod project – Basra- Iraq), technical instrument instructor (SPIE Iraq), instrument and process control instructor (NBC – Kuwait), instrument competency development and training mentor (AFPC – Syria), instrument instructor (AFPC – Syria), Sr. project instrument engineer (AFPC – Syria), E&I project superintendent (Rashpetco – Egypt), instrument engineering section head (Egyptian Petrochemical co – Egypt), senior instrument engineer (Saudi Aramco – KSA), and maintenance engineer (Baiji Refinery – Iraq). Mr. Osman has bachelor degree of science in electrical engineering, communications and electro-physics and he is C.E.U awarded in computer control (USA).
