Day1- Noggins & Noodles:

The Heads & Arms of Cor Hoop Dance

This workshop will cover many dance aspects to hoop dance. We will do a lot of body rocking on the core, with a focus on waist, shoulders and head hooping, different arm positions and playing with negative space around the hoop. I will also include some tips and movements for continuous stalls and a couple exercises on one shoulder hooping. If you took my workshops last summer, some of this will be review, but don’t worry, I have added challenges to push your flow even further. Also one new segment for this workshop will include off body elbow hooping. It’s this double elbow vertical style of hooping unique to my flow. I have never seen anyone else do anything like it so it should be totally new to you all and I have to say its wicked fun to play with. I am excited to see what you all come up with.

Day2- Mind Bending Rhythms:
The Endless Combinations Of Isolations & Dance

This workshop will cover many dance aspects to hoop dance. WHAT TO BRING:

  1. COMFORTABLE CLOTHING. We would recommend:
    • A shirt that covers your back and shoulders –
    • Pants that cover your thighs –
    • Socks that cover your ankles which will keep you comfortable for floor hooping. (Often hoopers like to have soft, fluffy fabric around their ankles when learning how to move their legs against the floor)

Poi refers to both a performing art and the prop used in it. Commonly used in circus performances too, poi is a pair of equal length ropes weighted at the ends with different materials.
