Introduction to the Financial & Income Statements
  • Introduction financial accounting and to the three principal financial statements presented in IFRS
  • The concept of the True and Fair view in accounting

Session 5

Applied balance sheet workshop
  • The delegates will review a corporate balance sheet in detail in IFRS and one under UAE GAAP, assessing its different components and their relevance to the company’s continued success as a going concern.
  • The delegates will also undertake a ratio analysis of their company’s balance sheet to understand the risks inherent in the constitution of the balance sheet.

  • Workshop: During this session, the delegates, in their teams will undertake different class exercises applying the different types of budgeting tools as indicated above to a developed company case study scenario. The delegates will need to recommend the optimum pricing policy for the company.
Session 9
Questions and Answers

LEARNING EXPERIENCE

PRE-COURSE
This part of the learning experience is meant to ensure a smooth transition to the face to face training. Participants are required to take the following steps:
  • Pre-course evaluation quiz - take a short quiz to establish the current level of knowledge;
  • Learning experience - analyse a document presenting guidelines on how to maximize your learning experience;
  • Pre-requisite reading - go through a series of documents to better understand the core-course content.

CORE-COURSE
  • The program is an intensive two-days workshop whereby areas of financing and budgeting theory will be introduced to the delegates through short 10 - minute slots and these will be backed up will application of the knowledge gained in case study scenarios. Delegates will be required to participate fully in the workshop training sessions. Working in project groups, they will be required to present their workshop solutions to the rest of the class.

AFTER-COURSE
The learning process is not finalized when the core-course ends. Participants are required to take the following steps:
  • Action plan - create a plan for the actions and initiatives you intend to implement after the training course;
  • Additional reading - go through a series of resources to expand your content related knowledge;
  • Learning journal - reflect upon your 3 stages learning experience and complete a journal.

EVALUATION
The process is finalized only when you complete all of the 3 stages of the learning experience. Nonetheless, you will receive a:
  • Certificate of Attendance: after participating at the 2 days of on-site training course;
  • Certificate in Finance and IFRS for Non Finance Executives: after you have successfully completed all of the 3 stages of the learning experience
