HABC Level 2 Award in Pool Lifeguarding
Who should attend?
Anyone who works or wants to work as a professional lifeguard at a swimming pool.
What will they learn?
This qualification is designed for those learners wishing to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to become a qualified pool lifeguard. It covers the preparation, health and safety of a swimming pool environment, and how to respond to pool emergencies and emergency situations in the swimming pool.

Observation and supervision

Spinal Cord injury management
First Aid and CPR
Use of pocket mask
Legislation and Standard Operating Procedures
Course duration
5 days in total. 4 days training 1 day assessment. 100% attendance is required.
Assessment
Candidates should pass the continuous assessment throughout the course by the trainer to be eligible for the end-of-course assessment. The end-of-course assessment will be an external independent assessment sampling elements across the whole syllabus.
Certificate and Validity
Internationally recognised Pool Lifeguard qualification from Highfield Awarding Body for Compliance, valid for 2 years.
Entry requirement
Basic English skills and be a minimum of 16 years of age
Jump or dive into the pool in deep water
Swim 50 meters in 1 minute or less
Surface dive to the deepest part of the pool
Tread water in deep water for 30 seconds
Swim 100 meters continuously on front and then back
Climb out of the pool unaided, without using steps or a ladder
