The course takes one day (theory & practical) to be a competent VHF Radio operator for recreational pleasure boats following and maintaining the operational standard along the coastline

DAY 1 (THEORY & PRACTICAL) - Time: 8:30 – 15:30

Introduction to VHF Radio
Types of VHF Radios (Fixed & Portable)
Simplex & Duplex Transmission
VHF Radio International channels (16, 70, 13, 6, 14, 8, etc)
VHF Radio Functions (use of each button on the unit)
Digital Selective Calling (DSC).
VHF Radio Regulation
Phonetic Alphabet & Numerals
VHF Radio Procedure words and its use (Mayday – Pan Pan – Securite- ship to ship call)
GMDSS Components (DSC – EPIRB – SART – NAVTEX – INMARSAT – HF RADIO – POWER SUPPLY)
